Not really a question but a comment on how to use them.

Write something like:
Primary Address does not default to “3” in all cases! <ref> NMRA Standard S-9.x.x: Default address is …. </ref>
The last entry on the page should be “References”, as the system will generate a list by parsing the article’s <ref> tags.
If possible, use references to support statements, as this lends credibility to the article. Helps when busting a myth. And there are many.
