Organizing CV articles

So. Any ideas on how the CV articles should be organized? For example, the ‘Mode Control’ CV is found at https://dccwiki.com/Configuration_Variable/Configuration_Register_CV29 while “Power Conversion” (CV 12) ias found at https://dccwiki.com/Power_Conversion

I’d like to make these consistent somehow. Any thoughts? Here’s some ideas:
1) Change page titles include the CV#
dccwiki.com/CV12 Power Conversion
dccwiki.com/CV67-CV94 Speed Table
dccwiki.com/CV66 CV95 Trim Adjust

2) Reverse the order:
dccwiki.com/Power Conversion CV12
dccwiki.com/Speed Table CV67-CV94
dccwiki.com/Trim Adjust CV66 CV95

3) Place them all in a folder. This way there’s breadcrumbs at the top of the page.
dccwiki.com/CV/12: Power Conversion
dccwiki.com/CV/67-94: Speed Table
dccwiki.com/CV/66 95: Trim Adjust

Page titles/tab titles can be changed using the article template to whatever. Listing them as to their name /number is probably the most descriptive title.

Maybe organise them under the CV main page as stubs, so they are all in the same place.
CV29 aka Mode Control is one of those that really demands its own page/stub, as it has a large impact on the decoder and various options. It’s the one many people mess up…

It would be nice if there was a way to implement a calculator for CV29, toggle the features you want and it spits out the appropriate value.

Thanks for the feedback.

I understand the titles can be changed. But I’m trying my best to get away from using the “title” feature when possible. It’s best to just rename the pages, if it makes sense. For some pages that are nested, I’ve been going with the format of “ParentName: Sub page name” See https://dccwiki.com/LokProgrammer/Software_Revisions as an example.

So, I think you’re saying you want option 3.. But instead of:
dccwiki.com/cv/# Title
You want:
/Configuration Variable/# Title

Which..is what I meant, I was using shorthand, sorry that I was unclear.

If you like #3, I’ll tackle that as my next project, but only for CVs that make sense to have a sub-page.

Regarding CV29. Maintaining the javascript is kind of a PITA, as learned from the voltage drop calculator. It’s probably best to find links to tools that already do these things. Like http://www.2mm.org.uk/articles/cv29%20calculator.htm or https://www.digitrax.com/support/cv/calculators/

I like the Digitrax one since it does multiple CVs, but I’m concerned that linking to a specific vendor will show that DCCWiki supports one vendor over the other. Unless we put a disclaimer near the link..?

Agree on the calculator. Nice if it were simple to implement, but since it can be a big headache, let someone else deal with it…

#3 looks like a good method for CVs to be organized, they can be accessed by their entries in the table on the CV page as well.
