Brands vs Manufacturers

Regarding the brands versus manufacturers. You want another field for the multifunction decoder to collect brand? How would this flow with the rest of the wiki, namely, we have a mfrs list, would we also need a brands list? How would we track the interactions between them? I’m worried this will get pretty far down into the weeds of business and not focused on DCC.

Don’t think we need that, just using brand would suffice. Some brands buy decoders (and their starter sets) and rebrand them, often selling a crippled version.
(I think the polite term is “cost reduced”. 😀 )

Soundtraxx, 2345, Econami
ESU, 11144477, LokPilot
Where the “Econami” field is a user entered item.

Adding the OEM would just confuse some people. That tidbit could be included in the text on the subpage by the author.
